Some days ago, I read in the newspaper, a piece of news about a woman who had bought a dress in a very know shop. When the woman was at her home, she was surprised whe she saw in the dress' label a text the following message: ( more or less, I don't remember the message) this clothe has been done with young people, most of them overworked and under paid.
Suddenly, that woman went to the store to show them her dress. Before going to the store, she had been in touch with a newspaper to tell her story.
In the moment that the piece of news was in all newspapers, tv or mass media, the manager of the store promised to investigate the origin ot that message.
They told that someone had manipulated that label.
But I wonder my self, if you buy a cheap dress and it has been made in Asia. Why most of the textil factories are located there? Of course because they have to pay less money than if they had their factories in Europe, America ....
It was a Marketing campaing? or Publicity campain? Or it was true.
We can't fight agains all that abuse because most of the clothes that we wear have been made there. It's a pity.

(1) better: news item
(2) We might use the phrase "child labor" here.
I know that all of the clothing sold here is marked with the country of manufacture, so we could be selective about where we buy clothes from. But few people are. The desire to buy things at the lowest possible cost supercedes other considerations.
I agree with you Matt. It's unfair these kind of acts. They are moving their production to another countries where people work for peanuts and in most of the cases in bad conditions. If we have to choose between price and quality in clothes, we choose price, because we can buy more and we can change them every year. The problems is that most of the very well known brands are located in Asia. And sometimes we are paying an extra price for the brand. But the problem is that our economy is looking for saving costs. And the main reason to move on to these countries is that. It's a pity but we can fight against this system or acts. I think it's a good subject to debate isn't it?
DeleteYes, it's a good subject. And that was a great paragraph of English you just wrote.
