The Last Day of WWI

At ten to three a.m. of eleventh of November of 1918 is announced by Associate Press news agency in USA that at five o'clock a.m. Paris time , the end of the war has been signed, being marked the end at eleven sharp a.m., it means that six hours of war left yet.
A lot of people started to celebrate this event, however they didn't know that a lot of people was going to die yet during that six hours.Although it was known that it was sure that the war is finishing, however, a lot of soldiers was sent to the battlefront.
Why didn't American and French military commanders stop the war when the Germans had surrendered? Why did military commanders want to invade a land militarily which could invade peacefully in the next day?
That day the American Army lost more than 3200 soldiers, more died than in Normandy invasion. The French casualties were 260.000, The German casualties were 241.000. 10400 soldiers in total in both sides. The American goverment sent the 92th division of black men in the last hours of war.
The beginning, 8 of August of 1914, was absurd, when the archduke Francis Ferdinand was assassinated by a boy of 19 in Serbia where there was really no international conspiracy behind him. A set of diplomatic mistakes was what provoked the war, later, 8 millions soldiers dead.
The generals was not sensitives to amount of dead during the war, the only important thing was to success the targets using new weapons as the flame-throwers or the mustard gas.The main strategy was to kill a lot of men and quickly.
The negotiations for the end of the war began 72 hours before but while the cease-fire was not asked for, and It was imposed humiliating conditions to Germany knowing they couldn't decline. Everyday an average of 2200 soldiers died in both sides. There was intensive and violent battles until last minute.

    (1) better: ending
    (2) "Although" and "however" are redundant. Use one or the other, but not both.

The end of that war was as absurd as its beginning. It came as a complete surprise to the German people, as no German land was occupied at the time. Nor did the peace terms include any occupation of Germany. All of this led directly to the next war.

I meant that while there were negotiations, the cease-fire should be asked for

  3. Then I'd say: although no immediate cease-fire was requested.

Yes, it's a great topic. I've learned quite a bit about it recently.
