Slave Blues

Being a black lad is a colour,
I hate being a slave,
I'm fed up, so much work
the land of our damned lord, from dawn to dusk
the companions think the same,
either one like Espartaco fiercely fights
and therefore this situation changes
or all of us will go to the Gambia,
From Kunta Kinte until our days
there are hardly improvements,
I hope that with the secession war,
our union movement of the cotton
which wants to obtain, namely:
a Sunday rest, an usual salary,
two special payments, a month's vacation,
and a pension after retirement,
that we are treated with dignity
like similar immigrants,
that the cheks, the lord's beatings and the droit du seigneur were ended.
And who prefer to return to Senegal,
running naked by forest with the woman and the child,
being stuck-up like an ostrich.
So that no one says that we are Zulus,
keep singing this blues.Lyrics

  2. (checks) I tried to say "to make a search" or "a checking" or " a raid".

(sticking up?) I mean "raise/erect" one's neck. is "sticking up" right?
