Viernes de Dolores

It was yesterday, Friday. I can say with this act, the Easter Week has begun. Yesterday it is called, here in Spain, "Viernes de Dolor", and in the most cities of Spain there is a Procession, where Virgen Maria, called in this case like Virgen Dolorosa, goes out of the Church in Procession. This act is celebrated, at least in my town, around 21.00 hours pm. All the streets are in silence. Everybody is waiting for the Virgen de los  Dolores or Dolorosa. Only you can hear the sound of drums. A deep sound, you can hear its eco. The members of the brotherhood are weared with the clothes or their brotherhood. You can't see their faces because are coverted. ( In my town they are called: "CARRAPUCHETES" . The night, the cold, the candles light up the streets. When I saw the Virgen I breathed and I prayed. It was a special moment. A moment where you can think the pains that our Virgen had before Jesucristo's death. This act told me that Easter Week had began.
This is one of the traditions of Easter Week in my City. In each city of Spain or of the word there is a tradition. Base of our culture. Happy days.

Good, Javier. You used the phrasal verb "light up" perfectly. The week before Easter Sunday is Holy Week. The following week is Easter Week.

    1. Thx Matt. I want to share with you the special moments of the Spanish Holy Week. As you know, in Spain, we can find two ways of living the Holy Week. One is in the North of Spain, where you can feel the silence and other way is in ths South of Spain, where apart from the silence you can hear sad songs, from very deeply voices.
