"To please" is the best literal translation of "gustar", but we tend to use "to like", which requires swapping the subject and object. Example:
I like having the desire to feel that you're mine more than being together and knowing that you are cheating on me.
yes, I forget the swapping issue of "like" verb, but in the other hand "to please" according my dictionary means: to make somebody happy, so according to this, I would translate "to please" as "agradar". What do you think?

ReplyDeleteIn Spanish you can say it perfectly: le gusta su trabajo pero no le agrada. It is a little difference but interesting.
