After
counting the days for months, the operation day finally arrived. My grandmother
was more anxious that day than in her wedding day. She and I must be punctually
at 6:00 a.m. at the hospital, so we woke up at 4:30 a.m. At that hour, my grandmother
took a shower, packed a blanket, and took her blood pressure pills. She
couldn’t eat breakfast.
We
arrived early at the cold hospital. However, my grandmother waited for hours in the
operation room. I guessed that the ophthalmologist operated about ten patients
that day. Unfortunately, my grandmother was one of the last patients.
The
outpatient operation consisted of a 30-minute laser surgery. After two hours in
the recovery room, my grandmother left the hospital at 3:30 p.m. with an eye
patch in her left eye. She was a little drowsy because of the anesthesia. After having an empty stomach all that time,
she asked for a big plate of food.
The
next day, we visited the doctor’s office. He removed the eye patch and examined
her eye thoroughly. Thank God, everything was OK. My grandmother must wear
sunglasses all the time for two weeks, and I must administer to my grandmother
eye-drops ten times per day in her operated eye. The doctor scheduled a follow
up visit for August, and then we left the doctor’s office.
And
the $64,000 question: Can she see? The answer in the next post.
To
be continued.
Better = The day of the operation finally arrived.
ReplyDeleteanxious than (in) ON her wedding day
My Grandmother and I must arrive punctually at the hospital at......
I (guessed) GUESS the ophthalmologist operated ON about 10 patients that day.
An eye patch (in) ON her left eye.
The answer WILL BE in the next post.
Bien escrito de nuevo Alex! Me alegra saber que todo fue bien. Estoy esperando noticias buenas.

Gracias Katie!
DeleteJust a comment on "must". It's a defective verb, having no past tense. So I think it should be "She and I had to be at the hospital punctually at 6:00 am."
ReplyDeleteI eagerly await the next post!
