This summer has been one of the hottest
in my country. I live on a Caribbean island with hot climate
throughout the year, but this summer is breaking all-time records.
Similarly, this heat wave is affecting not only my island but also
many places around the globe. For example, in the United States about sixty
people have died as a consequence of this heat wave.
How am I dealing with this heat wave?
First, I start off each day with a colorful, refreshing fruit salad.
Forget about hot chocolate or coffee, pancakes, bagels, or scrambled
eggs. Instead, I eat a full plate of diced mangoes, cantaloupes,
bananas, kiwis, peaches, and so on. Second, I drink more than eight
glasses of water during the day to keep my body hydrated. When I am
driving around my city, I feel rivers of sweat flowing through my
back. Finally, I bought a small pool to relax during the afternoon.

Very well done, Alex. You used "dealing with" perfectly, and I should look up how to say that in Spanish. Here in South Carolina we have definitely felt the heat. The temperature reached 107 F (41.7 C) here last week, which might be an all-time record. It seemed like "global warming" had been taken over by "climate change" in recent years, but I think we're definitely back to "global warming" now.
- 107 F? Wow! Here it is between 95 and 100 plus humidity everyday. We use Fahrenheit degrees too.
