Apathy

While they were walking accompanied by a gentle breeze under a boiling sun, they were talking about things without too much importance. When, suddenly, he said to her: My wife thinks very highly of you. When I am gone, she will need your support and friendship.
She gazed him deeply, astonished, bewildered. He turned and with two fingers sealed her lips. He went on his way. Then, She begun to understand.
She looked him. He was with his back to her. She did not understand anything, but, almost her tears was about to begin to fall.
She begun to understand. He was not so strange. Now, she could understand his absences. Now, she could understand why he loved so much the solitude.
Suddenly, she was looking at him with new eyes. She realized that, she and the others were confused. They did not know anything.
He always, had seemed an strange guy, fussy, unusual. A guy with odd customs. But, now, she begun to think. Why, he only was there, where his children were?. Why, he always was talking about his children?, Why, he always was everywhere with they?.
She understood everything. His greatest concern were his children and the future of them.
She remembered that his father died when he was sixteen.
