Early Bird

Today I woke up at 3:30 a.m. I didn’t plan to get out of bed at that hour, but I didn’t want to continue tossing and turning* sleepless in bed for hours. Anyway, I took advantage of the hour to do some things.

First, I cleaned my room. Second, I searched for information in the Interned about a medical insurance plan for my father. Third, I downloaded a podcast into my mp3 player. Then, I ate an orange and went to run/walk at 6:00 a.m. I have always enjoyed exercising first thing in the morning before dawn. After 30 minutes, I returned to my home and completed my workout with several sets of pushups and abs exercises. Finally, I took a cold shower and ate a big steak sandwich.**

It’s impressive how many things you can do when you wake up so early. Remember the Benjamin Franklin’s adage: “Early to bed, early to rise, makes the man healthy, wealthy and wise.”

* I don’t know how to say “dar vueltas en la cama”. First, I wrote rolling, but then I googled it and found “tossing and turning.”

**I finished this post too.

First, I cleaned my room. Second, I searched for information (in) ON the Internet about a medical insurance plan for my father. Third, I downloaded a podcast (into) ONTO my mp3 player. Then, I ate an orange and went (to) FOR run/walk at 6:00 a.m. I have always enjoyed exercising first thing in the morning before dawn. After 30 minutes, I returned to my home and completed my workout with several sets of pushups and abs exercises. Finally, I took a cold shower and ate a big steak sandwich.**

I am always impressed by your writing Alex, it is excellent and tossing and turning was a good choice of words to use in this situation. I totally agree with you, it is always better to do something constructive rather than tossing and turning in bed.

  2. Thanks Katie. I should learn how to use ONTO. I never use that preposition.

  3. I was checking on line about ONTO, some people write on to and other onto, apparently you can write it both ways.

  4. I just saw another thing: "Remember the Benjamin Franklin’s adage" is not right. You can say either "Remember Benjamin Franklin's adage" or "Remember the adage of Ben Franklin". I'm not sure what the rule is, because you can say "Remember the man's face"... It has something to do with Benjamin Franklin being a specific person, I think. It seems that we cannot say "the (person by name)'s thing". What a crazy language!
