This week I've been learning modal verbs like TURN ON/turn off, Turn up/turn down and, now I have a question...Can you separate the particle from the verb in this example?(Is that question well done?)
Well, the important fact is this, for instance: "I had to turn the subtitles on". Can I do that with the other modal verbs too?

Your question starting with "Can you..." is well done.
Yes, you can separate the particle from the verbs with modal verbs like this. It is optional. So you can just as well say "I had to turn on the subtitles." Let me think of another example... She slowed down the car./She slowed the car down. Both acceptable.
